Templates and workspaces
Templates
A template saves the settings of a chart so you can reuse them on other charts. It contains:
- candle type, frame, history and style;
- colors, grid, crosshair, Volume Profile and day separators;
- all active indicators, with their settings.
A template does not contain drawings: use studies for those. See Drawings and studies.
The name of the template in use appears in the window title, in square brackets. An asterisk means you changed the chart after applying the template.
The Template menu
| Item | Effect |
|---|---|
| Save Template... | Saves the chart settings with a name |
| Save as Default | Saves the settings as the default template |
| Use Default | Applies the default template |
| Load Template | Applies a saved template |
| Delete Template | Deletes a saved template |
The default template is applied automatically to every new chart: this is why [Default] appears in the title.
TickerExplorer also includes some ready-made templates, marked (builtin): Intraday 5m, Scalping 1m, Daily, Swing 4h and Order Flow. You can apply them but not delete them.
The workspace
The workspace is the set of open charts. For each chart it remembers instrument, candle type, frame, history, template, indicators, selected account, and window position and size.
TickerExplorer saves the workspace automatically every few seconds and when you close the application. When you restart, the charts open again as you left them.
You can also save named workspaces to switch between layouts: see Your first chart.
The workspace does not save drawings. Save them as a study before you close the charts.
