Sign-in and license
The first time you start TickerExplorer, it asks for your access credentials. It checks the license first: without a valid license the program does not open.
First sign-in
You need an active Internet connection.
- Start TickerExplorer from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut.
- In the sign-in window, enter your username in Username.
- Enter your password in Password.
- Click Sign in.
Use the credentials you find in the customer area of the portal. See Purchase and download.
:::info Do you already have a license for the previous version? Keep using the credentials you already have. :::
Your password is not saved on the PC. On the following starts, TickerExplorer usually opens without asking for your credentials again.
If you have more than one license, TickerExplorer asks which one to use on this PC. Select the license and confirm.
After sign-in
After you sign in, the TickerExplorer command bar appears on the left edge of the screen. From here you open all the platform features.
TickerExplorer also shows an icon in the Windows notification area. Click the icon to show or hide the command bar.
One license, one PC at a time
The license is active on one PC at a time.
To move the license to another PC, sign in to TickerExplorer from that PC. The previous PC loses the license and is disconnected. You can do this at any time.
If the license is already active on another PC, at startup TickerExplorer asks whether you want to use it here. If you confirm, the other PC loses the license.
License status
In the command bar, the license icon changes color based on the license status:
| Color | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green | License active |
| Orange | License active, but the license server cannot be reached |
| Dark orange | A connection to the license server is needed again, or the license blocks trading |
| Red | License suspended or revoked, for example because it was activated on another PC |
| Gray | No valid license |
Click the license icon to open its menu. The menu shows the license status, your username and the expiry date, with two commands:
- Use license on this PC: takes the license back on this PC if it is active on another one;
- Check now: checks the license status right away. If everything is fine, the message License active. appears.
