Telegram notifications

TickerExplorer can send you a Telegram message when the Master account or a Follower loses or regains its connection. You get no messages for disconnections you make yourself, for example with Stop or ■.

You need the Telegram app and a bot of your own, which you create in a minute.

  1. In the command bar, click the gear icon (tooltip Settings Menu).
  2. Click the bell icon (tooltip Telegram Notifications (Master and Follower connections)). Telegram Notifications opens.
  3. In Telegram, open @BotFather and send /newbot.
  4. Follow @BotFather's instructions: choose the bot's name and username. At the end @BotFather gives you the bot's token.
  5. Copy the token and paste it in Bot token:.
  6. In Telegram, open your new bot and press Start, or send it /start.
  7. In TickerExplorer, click Link. Linked. Press "Send test" to check it, then "Save". appears.
  8. Click Send test. ✅ Test message: notifications are working. arrives in Telegram.
  9. Select Enable notifications.
  10. Click Save. Saved: notifications on. appears.

You can also receive messages in a group: add the bot to the group, write a message in the group and then click Link. TickerExplorer uses the chat of the last message received by the bot.

The token stays saved: when you reopen the window, Token saved: leave empty to keep it. appears below the field. If you paste a different token, click Link again.

What to notify​

In What to notify choose:

  • Master account: connection lost and restored: drops and returns of the Master account;
  • Followers: connection lost and restored: drops and returns of the Followers.

Both options are on by default. After a change, click Save.

The messages​

Each message starts with TickerExplorer and the name of your PC. Then one line per account:

If the session was opened elsewhere, the line adds — forced logout: the session was opened elsewhere.

When the Master comes back, the message reminds you that active strategies were stopped when it dropped: check them and re-arm them from the Strategy Hub.

TickerExplorer collects nearby events and sends them in a single message, after a few quiet seconds.

Good to know​

  • Messages are sent from your PC. If TickerExplorer is closed or the PC is off, you get nothing.
  • If the internet goes down, messages arrive when it comes back, with the time of the drop and of the return.
  • If you change Windows user or PC, you have to paste the token again.
  • If the last message was not delivered, Last message not delivered: appears with the reason when you open the window.
