The Strategy Hub
The Strategy Hub collects the automated strategies: you add, configure and enable them from here. An enabled strategy sends real orders on the account or group you choose, without asking for confirmation.
Strategies are a license option. If your license does not include them, Strategies are not included in your license. appears when you enable one.
Open the Strategy Hub
In the command bar, click the lightning icon (tooltip Strategy Hub). If the window is already open, it comes to the front.
There is a single list of strategies, the same for all workspaces. The workspace only remembers the window's position and size.
The columns
| Column | Content |
|---|---|
| Strategy | The strategy name |
| Instrument | The instrument the strategy reads data from |
| Override | The contract the strategy sends orders on |
| Frame | The candles it works on, for example 1m or 2500 ord |
| Position | The strategy's position |
| Avg Price | The average price of the position |
| Realized P&L / Unrealized P&L / Total P&L | Closed P&L, running P&L and total, in the account currency |
| Account | The chosen account or group. With the strategy enabled, it also shows the accounts it trades on, for example Prop → BX12345-01, BX12345-02 |
| Enable/Disable | The switch: Disabled in red, Enabled in green |
Add a strategy
- Right-click the list and choose Add Strategy.
- In Select a strategy, choose the strategy and click OK.
- The settings window opens. In Instrument, type the data instrument as ROOT.EXCHANGE, for example ES.CME.
- In Override Instrument, type the order contract with expiry and exchange, for example MESZ6.CME.
- Select ARM next to the override.
- In Account / Group, choose the account or routing group.
- In History Days, choose how many days of history to use to prepare the strategy.
- Set the strategy parameters. Hover over a field to see its description.
- Click Apply. The strategy appears in the list, disabled.
With Cancel the strategy is not added. Reset restores the default parameters; Confirm also closes the window and keeps the strategy.
You can add the same strategy several times, for example on different instruments or accounts: each row has its own parameters.
The parameters
Each strategy has its own parameters, below the common fields. Each field has a description: hover over the field to read it. Some points apply to all strategies:
- Times: start, end and end-of-day (EOD) closing times are in Italian time.
- Frame: some strategies use the same calculations as a chart indicator. For the signals to match the ones you see, set the same frame in the strategy as on the chart.
- Quantity cap: each strategy has a field like Max routed qty. TickerExplorer never sends more contracts than this value, whatever the strategy asks for. Keep it at least equal to the strategy's quantity, otherwise the order goes out smaller.
- Zero values: in dollar limits, for example a maximum daily loss, 0 usually means "off". Check the field's description.
- Some strategies show an orange note when a setting is not consistent, for example with the chosen contract: read it before enabling.
All strategy times are in Italian time (Rome), whatever your PC's time zone.
Enable and disable
Click the row's switch. Before enabling the strategy TickerExplorer checks, in order:
- the license: otherwise Strategy Hub — License appears with the reason;
- the configuration: otherwise Strategy Configuration appears with the problem, for example Instrument is required., Override instrument is required. or Override is not armed. Enable ARM before starting the strategy.;
- the account: otherwise Strategy not armed appears with the reason, for example no account selected or account '…' is not among the connected accounts.
If a check fails, the switch goes back to Disabled.
Once enabled, the strategy warms up on history (History Days) and then works on real-time prices.
Disable
Click the switch: the strategy stops and TickerExplorer cancels its working entry orders. Positions, targets and stops stay at the broker: close them yourself if needed.
If an entry order cannot be cancelled, Strategy disabled — entry still working appears: check your orders in R | Trader Pro and cancel them manually.
Edit a strategy
Right-click the row and choose Edit Strategy. Changes apply immediately; close with Close.
With the strategy enabled, Instrument, Override, ARM, Account and History Days are locked: the window says so with Strategy is ENABLED: … Disable the strategy to change them. The other parameters can be changed while the strategy is running.
Remove a strategy
Right-click the row and choose Remove Strategy. If the strategy is enabled, TickerExplorer asks for confirmation: answering Yes disables it, cancels the working entry orders and removes it. Positions, targets and stops stay at the broker.
Orders and quantity
- The strategy sends orders on the Override Instrument contract, on the chosen account or group.
- The quantity sent never exceeds the strategy's cap, for example Max routed qty.
- If the strategy uses a target and stop, TickerExplorer places them after the entry is filled, linked: when one is filled, the other is cancelled.
- On a single account each contract has its own target and stop. On a group there is a single bracket, on the group's main account.
If the connection drops
If the connection of the Master, or of a Follower a strategy trades on, drops, the strategies involved are disabled and Strategies disabled appears with the list.
They do not restart by themselves when the connection returns: during the drop they received no prices, so their calculations are incomplete. Check positions and orders, then enable them again manually.
If you set up Telegram notifications, the Master's return message reminds you to check the strategies.
Closing and restarting
- You close TickerExplorer: the strategies' working entry orders are cancelled. Positions, targets and stops stay at the broker.
- You close the charts: strategies keep working as long as the Strategy Hub or at least one chart stays open. When you close the last of these windows, the strategies stop.
- On restart strategies come back disabled, with their parameters. ARM must be selected again. Position and P&L restart from zero: a position still open at the broker is not picked up.
