Order buttons

BUY MARKET / SELL MARKETMarket
BUY BID / SELL ASKLimit at the best bid (buy) or best ask (sell)
BUY LIMIT / SELL LIMITLimit at the price you type

With BUY LIMIT and SELL LIMIT a window opens with the price already filled in with the last price:

  1. Type the price, with a dot as decimal separator.
  2. Click OK.

Bracket: automatic target and stop

With 🔗 Bracket on, every entry order is sent with a linked target and stop:

  • Target ticks: distance of the target from the entry price, in ticks;
  • Stop ticks: distance of the stop from the entry price, in ticks.

The initial values are 20 and 20. Bracket and values are remembered for the next charts.

Quantity, Bracket and Trailing stop in the panel.

Trailing stop

With the trailing stop, the bracket stop follows the price when the trade moves in your favor. Two values decide how:

  • the stop distance from the price, that is Stop ticks;
  • the activation ticks: how many ticks the trade must be in profit before the stop starts moving. With 0 the stop follows the price from the start.

To use the trailing stop:

  1. Turn on 🔗 Bracket.
  2. In Stop ticks, set the stop distance from the price.
  3. Check Trailing stop.
  4. Right-click Trailing stop to set the activation ticks.
  5. In the Trailing stop — Activation Ticks window, type the number of ticks and confirm.

For example, with Stop ticks 8 and 10 activation ticks, the stop stays put until the trade is 10 ticks in profit. Then it follows the price 8 ticks away.

The check box label shows the activation ticks, for example Trailing stop (10t). The value is saved and also applies to SCALP, HL0 and HL1.

Hotkeys: orders from the keyboard

With ⌨ Hotkey on you can send orders from the keyboard. The keys work only in the chart window in the foreground, and not while you type in a field.

Alt+B / Alt+SBuy @ Bid / Sell @ Ask
Ctrl+B / Ctrl+SBuy / sell at the price under the mouse

With Ctrl+B and Ctrl+S the order goes to the price under the mouse, rounded to the tick. TickerExplorer chooses a limit or stop limit order based on where the price is relative to the market.

To change the keys:

  1. Right-click ⌨ Hotkey. The Order Hotkeys window opens.
  2. Click the box of an action and press the combination. Each combination must include Ctrl, Alt or Shift.
  3. Click Save.
The Order Hotkeys window, here with custom keys.

Reset defaults restores the initial keys. The keys apply to all charts.

warning

Hotkeys send real orders with a single key. Turn them on only when you need them.

If the order is not sent

If an order cannot be sent, TickerExplorer tells you with a message, for example Entry blocked or Override Required. See Messages and safety blocks.
